Tractus3D (1)

Formula Student (FS) is Europe's most established educational motorsport competition. Backed by industry and high-profile engineers such Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering.

For this event students have to design, build and race a formula race car to compete each other on the Silverstone (GB) racetrack in July 2017.

The Dutch team of Zuyd Hogeschool has designed an electric powered formula racecar which is almost completely 3D printed. They use several kinds of special materials, including the brand new Pro1, and a large format 3D printer. Because of the dimensions, the needed material strength and accuracy, combined with the need of special filaments, they use a large Tractus3D T3500 FDM printer, which is capable of printing objects with 1 meter diameter and 2.10 meters high.

Because of the high demands of a serious racecar with 280 HP and less than 300 KG weight, Tractus3D gladly offered their help to win this high-tech project. In this way it is a great showcase to test the printer on the limit and show the capabilities of the Tractus3D printers.
