Ongoing Buzz Over the Success of the First FABTECH Canada

FABTECH CANADA’s strong attendance and number of exhibitors at the show proved that there is indeed a healthy market for fabricating, metal forming and welding in Canada.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) along with the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA) and American Welding Society (AWS) introduced FABTECH into Canada for the first time this past March.  The result was a success. Thousands of manufacturing professionals from around the country including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec attended FABTECH Canada to walk the show floor and source over 75 new products, assess the latest equipment, machines and technologies, learn from the varied educational conference sessions and meet with new and existing suppliers.  The three-day exposition and conference at the Toronto Congress Centre welcomed over 5,800 visitors and more than 200 exhibitors.

“The first FABTECH Canada surpassed expectations as the one-stop venue for welding, fabricating and metal forming solutions in the Canadian market. Exhibitors were enthusiastic about the activity level on the show floor and quality of leads,” said Janine Saperson, FABTECH Canada event manager.  “Both exhibitors and attendees expressed how impressed they were at the inaugural event.

FABTECH Canada acted as the ideal venue for buyers to purchase the latest products for their companies. As a result there were reports that many large machines were sold right on the show floor.

“It was worth the trip. I was looking to check out machinery for our shop in Manitoba and found a good selection to choose from. This is a good event.”
– Cornelius Dueck, VP, Hi-Tec Industries, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba

“Very impressed with the variety of metal forming at the show. Was here to find new laser innovations and found several good contacts. Definitely worth the trip down.”
– Pierre Gravelle & Alain Ploudre, Co-op Technolaser, Montérgie, Quebec

The FABTECH events take place in the United States and in Mexico. FABTECH Canada launched its inaugural event last month in Toronto to serve the needs of the welding, fabricating and metal forming sector in Canada.  The next FABTECH Canada will return to the Toronto Congress Centre in 2014.

FABTECH is co-sponsored by three industry-leading associations: the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA) the and the American Welding Society (AWS).
