Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (3)

The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA) invites manufacturing executives to join its new Green Manufacturer Network, a professional organization of individual members working together to drive the transition toward environmentally friendly manufacturing.

“The mission of the Green Manufacturer Network is to be the principal resource to advance sustainable manufacturing,” said Edward Youdell, president and CEO of the FMA. “By joining this network, executives throughout the entire supply chain can learn practical strategies and affordable measures to run sustainable operations, as well as discover new business opportunities in the green marketplace.”

Members of the group receive discounts on conferences, workshops, and webinars; helpful event announcements and topical discussions; as well as access to sustainability resources.

“In a recent FMA member survey, 51% of respondents indicated their company has a committed sustainability program with dedicated staff and performance metrics,” said Jim Warren, FMA membership and education director. “An additional 38% of respondents indicated their company was moving toward full commitment to sustainable practices. They’ve recognized that being green directly impacts the bottom line in a positive way. Further, good environmental stewardship sends a powerful message to current and potential customers of one’s dedication to sustainability in their communities.”

Members will be able to share knowledge on sustainable manufacturing and promote awareness that going green can increase profitability while forming valuable contacts with other green leaders through volunteer and educational opportunities.

Based in Rockford, Ill., FMA is a professional organization with nearly 2,300 members working together to improve the metal fabricating and forming industry. Founded in 1970, FMA brings metal fabricators and fabricating equipment manufacturers together through technology councils, educational programs, networking events, and the FABTECH® trade show. FMA also has two technology affiliates, the Tube & Pipe Association, International (TPA), which focuses on the unique needs of companies engaged in tube and pipe producing and fabricating; and Green Manufacturer Network, a professional organization of individual members dedicated to working toward environmentally-friendly manufacturing.

FAB 40 List Makes Online Debut

Written by

FMA Communications Inc. announces the online debut of the 2011 FAB 40 company list on its website.

The list, posted under the “FAB 40” navigational tab or directly at www.thefabricator.com/fab40, ranks the most successful U.S. metal fabricating companies as profiled in the June 2011 issue of The FABRICATOR®.  The FAB 40 list is created with the input from those metal fabricators willing to share their revenue numbers and company information with The FABRICATOR and its readership.

“The FAB 40 list has quickly become an important resource for fabricators looking for solutions in today’s manufacturing environment,” said Jim Gorzek, associate publisher of FMA Communications Inc. “The list is beneficial to both the companies listed as well as the readers, and it has become a fast-growing feature in the magazine and now online.”

Metal fabricating companies interested in participating in the 2012 ranking can find more information and apply online at www.fma-communications.com/fab40.  The metal forming and fabricating industry’s leading online resource, thefabricator.com attracts thousands of unique visitors every month who are looking for articles, news and products they need to operate and grow their businesses.  Thefabricator.com adheres to the same editorial standards as all publications from FMA Communications, and content is divided into tech cells that allow visitors to zero in on their areas of interest.

FMA Communications Inc., the publishing affiliate of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, currently serves the metal forming and fabricating industry by publishing business-to-business magazines, e-newsletters, vendor directories and websites.

FMAC also received a national Azbee award in the Technical Article category and five Midwest region awards. ASBPE’s annual Awards of Excellence competition recognizes the best in editorial, design and online achievement in the B2B arena.

“For Green Manufacturer to be recognized nationally by the ASBPE as the gold winner for best new magazine is an amazing accomplishment,” said Ed Youdell, group publisher for FMAC. “I am proud of the work that our editors, graphic artists, audience development professionals and sales team have produced to receive this important recognition.” Launched in 2010, Green Manufacturer is a bimonthly magazine that covers the process applications, products, and opportunities for manufacturers to run an effective green operation.
