DayGlo (1)

It’s a well known fact that kids love fluorescents – the bright colors attract them and encourage them to play, even if it’s a toss-up whether the toy will end up on the floor or in their mouths! Now, DayGlo, a global leader in the color industry, has unveiled its new GloPrill® color palette for use in applications with direct food contact – a range of fluorescents that are completely safe, even for younger children, making play time more fun, no matter the product!

“For decades, DayGlo fluorescents have engaged children’s imaginations with vivid and bright colors,” says Kevin Sonby, Vice President of Marketing at DayGlo. “Now, with our line of FDA-compliant GloPrill pigments, manufacturers can safely and confidently expand their use of fluorescent color, not only for older children toys, but younger generations too – from toys to strollers, and from rattles to bouncers.”

DayGlo colors create bold and exciting plastics for children’s toys, and the company works closely with masterbatch producers, designers and manufacturers to explore new avenues of product development and market growth. DayGlo specializes in developing pigments suitable for polyolefins for injection molding, blow molding and rotational molding, as well engineering resins, plastisols and vinyl resins. The new GloPrill fluorescent pigments are FDA-compliant for use in High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP).

As the originators of daylight fluorescent color, DayGlo has long known the attraction bright colors can have to kids. In fact, according to a study by Xavier University, children prefer fluorescent color over conventional color by a factor of 4 to 1. When asked why a particular toy was chosen, 79% of the children in the study responded that the color was their reason.
