Geometric introduces Glovius

Geometric Limited announced the launch of its new extensible and customizable 3D visualization tool, Glovius® for consumption of product design data anywhere, anytime. Glovius runs on Windows® and as an app for iPad®/iPhone® and Android™ systems.

“Glovius is a strategic initiative for Geometric. It will enable us to build solutions across various applications for our enterprise customers. Today, high fidelity 3D product design data is consumed using expensive, difficult to use, proprietary applications, with limited customization and interoperability abilities. Glovius helps organizations expand the reach of 3D data beyond traditional CAD and PLM users. It is an easy to use, on-the-go and customizable tool to enable these new users to view high fidelity 3D data in an affordable manner”, says Manu Parpia, MD & CEO, Geometric.

Glovius for Windows is a free viewer with an add-on based architecture, and operates on the industry standard JT file format. Its add-ons allow users to import CAD files from multiple platforms like CATIA® V5, NX™, Pro/ENGINEER®, Creo™, SolidWorks®, Autodesk® Inventor®, STEP and IGES. Many more out of the box add-ons for implementing industry standard use cases are in the pipeline, including visualization with markup and collaboration, drawing-less manufacturing, etc. Glovius is also available as a toolkit along with rich Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for building custom solutions.

Salient features of Glovius for Windows:

  • Interactively view 3D models using Zoom/Pan/Rotate
  • Hide/Show Components and PMI data
  • Perform simple sections and see section profile
  • Measure point to point distance
  • Export to a mobile optimized format, and transfer it to your smart phones and tablets

Glovius apps for iOS and Android will help users access 3D data anywhere, anytime. Users can consume and showcase 3D information on their smart phones and tablets. They can interact with 3D models using the intuitive touch interface, view PMI & Product structure, hide/show components, take sections and email snapshots from within the application. To access 3D models on the go, users can convert them to a mobile optimized format using Geometric’s Babel3D.com, an online translation and storage service. All major CAD formats are supported.
