Manufacturing & Engineering North East 2015

Written by

Building on the success of its market-leading brands, including Works Management, Eureka, FAST, Machinery and New Electronics, Findlay Media has announced the launch of Manufacturing & Engineering North East (MENE) – a new type of event aimed at manufacturing and engineering professionals in the North East region.

Manufacturing & Engineering North East will take place at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on July 8-9, 2015 and showcase the region’s strengths and provide a platform for the local and national manufacturers, engineers and their suppliers to meet, learn, solve problems and develop business ideas.

The event will comprise three key elements covering the full range of design, production and manufacturing:

  • Keynote conference sessions from market-leading engineering and manufacturing businesses
  • Focused technical workshop sessions
  • An exhibition with access to market-leading suppliers

With keynotes from senior manufacturing and engineering professionals at leading brands across the aerospace, automotive, motorsport and electronics sectors, the Manufacturing & Engineering North East conference will provide delegates with powerful content spanning all areas of production, design and manufacturing management.

High quality practical workshops will also be taking place on both days within the two theatres on the show floor. The workshop sessions are free to attend and will provide best practice learning and insight into the latest engineering and manufacturing techniques. Subjects covered will range from metrology and rapid prototyping, to factory floor automation and test and measurement.

“Ultimately, the event’s most fundamental aim is to champion the manufacturing industry in the region and offer professionals in the sector a comprehensive event focusing on their needs and their needs alone. I’m very pleased to report that the response has been phenomenal, with the exhibition space now completely sold out, over five months before the event takes place,” says Findlay Media’s Executive Director, Ed Tranter.

A number of leading trade bodies and institutions have pledged their support for Manufacturing & Engineering North East, including the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS), North East LEP, Gateshead & Newcastle Inward Investment and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).

Manufacturing & Engineering North East was created on the back of independent research and interviews with over 200 manufacturing and engineering decision makers from the North East. Registration for the event is free for all qualifying professionals and opens on 9 February.

The award-winning Engineering Design Show, which will once again be co-located with the Electronics Design Show and the inaugural Embedded Design Show, is expected to attract more than 4,000 visitors and 250 exhibitors when it opens on 22-23 October at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

The Shows will still remain true to the founding principle of catering specifically for design and electronic engineers, offering best practice learning and practical design ideas for visitors through a focused exhibition, comprehensive conference and practical workshop sessions.

Alongside the exhibitions, there will also be a number of high-level keynote conference sessions delivered by prominent industry experts. This year’s Eureka Conference programme has now been announced and sessions are available to book via the registration page of the website.

The Eureka Conference speakers will be representing some of the UK’s leading brands, including: Infiniti Red Bull Racing; Cambridge Consultants; Siemens Magnet Technology; GKN Aerospace; Millbrook; Roll-Royce; and Mercedes AMG Petronas. In addition, a packed schedule of technical Workshops is expected to attract many visitors keen to get hands-on, practical advice on technology and industry issues.

The Engineering Design Show will once again incorporate Engineering Materials Live! to cater specifically for the engineering materials sector. Also running alongside these shows this year will be a new event called the Embedded Design Show, which will focus on this growing sector of electronic engineering.

Ultimately, the co-location with the Electronics Design Show, the incorporation of Engineering Materials Live! and launch of the new Embedded Design Show is aimed at continuing the Engineering Design Show’s most fundamental aim – to offer design engineers a comprehensive event focusing on their needs and their needs alone.

The second Engineering Design Show proved even more popular than the first, attracting over 3,000 design engineer visitors to the Ricoh Arena, Coventry – almost double the number who attended the year before – and winning the 'Event of the Year' category at the prestigious PPA Independent Publisher Awards. And this year’s event is expected to welcome even more visitors when it returns to the Ricoh on 22-23 October 2014.

The Engineering Design Show, which will once again be co-located with the Electronics Design Show and feature Engineering Materials Live plus the new Embedded Design Show, is expected to attract more than 4,000 visitors and 250 exhibitors in 2014. The Show will still remain true to the founding principle of catering specifically for design engineers, offering best practice learning and practical design ideas for visitors through a focused exhibition, comprehensive conference and practical workshop sessions.

Ed Tranter, executive director of organiser Findlay Media, says of the Show: “It has been great to watch the Engineering Design Show build on the success of the last two years to grow into something even bigger and better. It's also been great to receive so much positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike.”

Alongside the exhibitions, there will also be a number of high-level keynote conference sessions delivered by prominent industry experts. Previous years have featured speakers from such illustrious companies as Augusta Westland, BAE Systems, Dyson, Jaguar Land Rover, McLaren Electronics Systems, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty and Surrey Satellite Technology Limited to name just a few. Companies already confirmed to be participating this year include Rolls-Royce, Cambridge Consultants, GKN, Millbrook, Siemens and Infiniti Red Bull Racing with the full conference programme due to be announced soon.  In addition, a packed schedule of technical Workshops is expected to attract many visitors keen to get hands-on, practical advice on technology and industry issues.

Further leveraging the strength of Findlay Media’s editorial offering, the Engineering Design Show will once again incorporate Engineering Materials Live to cater specifically for the engineering materials sector.  Also running alongside these shows this year will be a new event, the Embedded Design Show which will focus on this growing sector of electronic engineering. Ultimately, the co-location with the Electronics Design Show, the incorporation of Engineering Materials Live and launch of the new Embedded Design Show is aimed at continuing the Engineering Design Show’s most fundamental aim – to offer design engineers a comprehensive event focusing on their needs and their needs alone.

Organised by leading B2B media business Findlay Media, the Engineering Design Show is the only event of its kind catering specifically to the needs of design engineers in the mechanical, electromechanical and electronic fields.

2013 Engineering Design Show - Coventry, UK

Written by

The Engineering Design Show 2013 is the only event aimed exclusively at design engineers in the UK. Taking place at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on October 2-3, it will include a high level conference, free practical workshops and an exhibition demonstrating and promoting cutting edge technology and innovation from over 200 market-leading suppliers.

The 2013 Show will still remain true to the founding principle of catering specifically for design engineers, but will include a number of new elements. The most significant of these will be the launch of the Electronics Design Show, which will co-locate with the Engineering Design Show, occupying the whole of Hall 2.

Further leveraging the strength of Findlay Media's editorial offering, the Engineering Design Show 2013 will also see a new section specifically devoted to the engineering materials sector called Engineering Materials Live! The decision to incorporate this element of the Show is based on this year's successful launch of Engineering Materials, the latest member of Findlay Media's stable of design engineering titles.

Amongst the leading speakers at this year’s Engineering Design Show conference will be Simon Smith, Associate Director - Products & Systems, Cambridge Consultants. His conference session is entitled ‘The five principles of product development’ and it will serve to illustrate the five rules of innovation which make a difference to a successful product.

Simon Smith has more than 20 years' product development experience across a wide range of industries, specialising in the design of integrated mechanical products. As a senior consultant, he is the technical authority at Cambridge Consultants for a range of novel consumer products – and has applied his aerosol expertise to a number of innovative personal care spray products currently in development.

Registration for the Engineering Design Show is free. Normal cost of attending the conference sessions is £95 each, but these are free for anyone registering and booking to attend a conference session before September 20, 2013.

The huge success of the 2012 Engineering Design Show has convinced organiser Findlay Media that an event designed for design engineers is not only an idea whose time has come, but one that merits further expansion.

With this in mind, the 2013 event has tripled in size. Occupying two halls at the Ricoh Arena – a floorspace of 6,000m2 – the Show will take place on the 2 & 3 October 2013 and is expected to attract as many as 250 exhibitors.

The Show will still remain true to the founding principle of catering specifically for design engineers, but will include a number of new elements. The most significant of these will be the launch of the Electronics Design Show, which will co-locate with the Engineering Design Show, occupying the whole of Hall 2.

Created by Findlay Media using its market-leading magazine New Electronics, the Electronics Design Show will provide exhibitors and visitors alike with a unique opportunity to take part in an event aimed exclusively at electronic design engineers.

As with the Engineering Design Show, the Electronics Design Show will offer best practice learning and practical design ideas for visitors through comprehensive conference and workshop sessions. The conference will provide 16 sessions over the two days, while the workshop programme will offer 20 practical and technical sessions.
