Green Manufacturer Magazine Wins National 2011 Azbee Award of Excellence for Best New Publication from ASBPE

Green Manufacturer magazine, published by FMA Communications Inc. (FMAC), affiliate of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA), received a national 2011 Azbee Award of Excellence - Gold Award in the New Publication category for best new magazine of 2010 from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).

FMAC also received a national Azbee award in the Technical Article category and five Midwest region awards. ASBPE’s annual Awards of Excellence competition recognizes the best in editorial, design and online achievement in the B2B arena.

“For Green Manufacturer to be recognized nationally by the ASBPE as the gold winner for best new magazine is an amazing accomplishment,” said Ed Youdell, group publisher for FMAC. “I am proud of the work that our editors, graphic artists, audience development professionals and sales team have produced to receive this important recognition.” Launched in 2010, Green Manufacturer is a bimonthly magazine that covers the process applications, products, and opportunities for manufacturers to run an effective green operation.

FMAC received a second national Azbee in the Technical Article category for the “Pulsed GTAW for Stainless Steel” article appearing in the April/May 2010 issue of TPJ - The Tube and Pipe Journal®, a publication for tube and pipe suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, fabricators, and tube and pipe manufacturers.    “The Azbee award for Technical Article is a reflection of the reputation that TPJ-The Tube & Pipe Journal has established since its inception in 1990, and of the editorial talent we have throughout the company and quality of the work we produce,” said Eric Lundin, editor of TPJ-The Tube & Pipe Journal.

“Being honored nationally by the ASBPE validates what we try to accomplish with our publications to support our readership,” said Dan D. Davis, editor in chief with FMA Communications. “With Green Manufacturer, our mission is to explore emerging trends that are sure to affect U.S. manufacturing. With TPJ-The Tube & Pipe Journal, we aim to share information that helps fabricators perform their jobs more efficiently.”

At the regional level, Green Manufacturer was honored with two Midwest region Azbee awards in the Case History and Editor’s Letter categories, while The FABRICATOR magazine, North America’s leading magazine for the metal forming and fabricating industry, received recognition in the Regular Column, Editor’s Letter and Case History categories.

“It’s an honor for Green Manufacturer to be recognized both regionally and nationally,” said Kate Bachman, editor of Green Manufacturer. “This award must be shared with the outstanding North American manufacturers whose sustainability stories we have featured and shared with our readers.”

ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence program honors exceptional work for business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications. Judges are business publication editors and writers, designers, consultants, and academics who are on the front lines doing hands-on business publication editorial and design work.
