ATW Companies Showcases Wide Range of Products at BIOMEDevice Boston

ATW Companies Inc., a leading provider of custom manufactured metal components and services, announces that it will feature a range of its tube fabrication, laser cutting/welding, machining, and metal injection molding(MIM) capabilities for the medical device industry at BIOMEDevice Boston, Booth #833, April 6-7, 2011 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

ATW Companies is the parent company of Judson A. Smith Company, located in Boyertown, PA, Parmatech Corporation, based in Petaluma, CA, Parmatech-Proform Corporation, based in East Providence, RI, and A.T. Wall Company, located in Warwick, RI. Each company will highlight its specific medical sector capabilities at the show.

Judson Smith, whose tube components and assemblies are widely used in instruments designed for minimally invasive surgical procedures, will showcase its tubular part fabrication capabilities. Judson’s ISO 13485 Certification meets orthopedic and medical device quality requirements. Judson will also provide a close look at its laser cutting and welding capabilities. In addition, Judson will feature its highly specialized CNC machining capabilities, used in orthopedic instrumentation and implants.

Parmatech and Parmatech-Proform manufacture MIM components used in a variety of bariatric and laparoscopic instruments and orthodontics that take advantage of MIM’s miniaturization and intricate shape capability. Applications also include sealing and transecting of blood vessels and vein harvesting for bypass surgeries. Highlighted products at this year’s show include the 2008 MPIF Design Competition Grand Prize winning articulation gear, laparoscopic jaw sets, and self-ligating orthodontic brackets. The company uses its efficient MIM technology to gain design flexibility, provide a scalable process, and reduce part costs for its customers. Depending on volume requirements and part complexity, MIM can significantly reduce the component cost and in some instances yield parts that could not be made using any other method.

A.T. Wall provides tubular and stamped products used in manufacturing products for the medical industry, including rigid and flexible waveguide for use in klystrons for cancer treatment, nickel tubing for x-ray equipment, cold roll steel crimp sleeves for stereoscopes, silver used in the manufacture of surgical instruments for eyes, nose and throat procedures, and stainless steel tubing used in catheters. At this year’s BIOMEDevice show, A.T.Wall will be showcasing tantalum, niobium, and tantalum composites in all forms, including plate, sheet, foil, beads, wire and tubing. With a high boiling point, high melting point, resistance to corrosion, ductility, superconductivity, low thermal expansion, and high capacitance, tantalum tubing is ideal for radiographic markers, permanent bone implantation, vascular clips, and repair of cranial defects. Other applications include flexible stents, fracture repair, and dental applications.
