ICPA’s “Don’t Miss” Multi-Regional Workshop

Expanding the use of cast polymer is the focus of the International Cast Polymer Alliance (ICPA) Fall 2011 Multi-Regional Workshop. The event – billed as a “don’t-miss opportunity for professional education, demonstrations, networking and business improvement” – will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 29-30. It will bring together key manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators and installers of cast polymer products from around the country.

Kicking off the agenda is an exclusive, four-hour seminar on ICPA’s new architectural Cast Polymer Products Guide Specification document, presented by Phil Kabza. ICPA sees effective use of this new, custom tailored guide specification as “key” to successfully expanding cast polymer businesses beyond residential construction and into commercial markets.

Also included on the workshop’s extensive schedule is an update on federal and state regulatory issues from ACMA’s Senior Director of Government Affairs, John Schweitzer. In addition to detailing the impact of recent and pending government actions on the composites industry, this interactive event will provide in-depth information on ICPA/ACMA advocacy efforts in the regulatory arena.

Responding to the ever-changing market dynamic and competition from new surfaces, there will also be a session on the latest building trends and how to incorporate them into individual business plans.

Capping workshop activities on September 29 is “The Tonight Show” with composites industry leader Jack Simmons of ACS International. He will interview top manufacturers about their strategies for keeping companies strong in tough economic times.

The second day of the ICPA Fall 2011 Workshop will showcase dynamic demonstrations on fiberglass, silicone and urethane mold making. There will also be a special program on how to cast an on-trend and increasingly popular product – polymer concrete – using existing molds and tooling.

The upcoming ICPA Multi-Regional Workshop will take place at the Argosy Casino and Hotel and CCP Training Facility. According to ICPA, the gathering is designed to be “small, smart and every specific in the information and opportunities it offers.” ICPA serves as the industry voice on legislative and regulatory issues as well as promoting the use of cast polymer products through its MasterCast Engineered Composites marketing initiative.
