COMPOSITES 2012 Set to Kick Off in Las Vegas

More than 3,000 composites industry leaders, decision makers, innovators and entrepreneurs are streaming into Las Vegas to attend COMPOSITES 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on February 21-23. The premier exhibition and convention of its kind in North America is produced by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA).

“The theme this year is ‘It’s All About Tomorrow’s Business,’” says ACMA President Lori Luchak of Miles Fiberglass & Composites. “Our industry is positioning itself for a bigger, brighter future and COMPOSITES is crucial to that process. We’re focusing on high performance, competing against traditional materials in key markets and going greener. We also believe the composites industry is poised to play a vital role in training for re-employment and upgrading the nation’s infrastructure.”

NASCAR legend and ABC/ESPN commentator Rusty Wallace will deliver a keynote address to attendees on Tuesday, February 21 during a general session event sponsored by Owens Corning. Wallace will speak about leadership, teamwork and composites in automotive racing.

The dynamic COMPOSITES Exhibit Hall opens on Wednesday, February 22. More than 200 U.S. and international companies are signed up to showcase products and services from 40-plus market segments. The Exhibit Hall will also offer live demonstrations of closed mold technology and other composites processes as well as a special display of the entries for the 2012 ACE (Awards for Composites Excellence) and Pinnacle Awards. These awards, which reflect the composites industry’s drive for innovation, sustainability and market growth, will be presented on Wednesday, February 22.

“The ACE and Pinnacle Awards are one of the highlights of COMPOSITES,” notes Luchak. “They embody what’s best in the industry right now, and point toward what’s coming next.”

COMPOSITES 2012 also provides a wide range of nearly 100 education sessions and technical papers presentations. “Education is a COMPOSITES hallmark,” Luchak says. “Our speakers draw from real-life applications as well as cutting edge, experimental research. You won’t find such a diverse and comprehensive roster of offerings anywhere else.”

Revenues from COMPOSITES 2012 are reinvested in ACMA’s efforts on behalf of the composites industry.

CCP Composites, Composites One, Owens Corning and Reichhold are Platinum Sponsors of COMPOSITES 2012.

Representing more than 3,000 companies, the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) is the world’s largest trade group representing the composites industry. ACMA provides strong, proactive leadership in technical, government and regulatory affairs. In addition, it hosts COMPOSITES, the largest composites trade show in North America, with suppliers and manufacturers from all market segments.
